What the site does
The site estimates the United Kingdom inheritance tax on an estate, including unused pension funds and pension death benefits for deaths on or after 6 April 2027 under the Finance Act 2026, and the income tax paid by beneficiaries on inherited pensions. It has no connection with HM Revenue and Customs, HM Treasury, any pension scheme, insurer, solicitor or financial adviser.
General information, not advice
The figures are estimates built on the assumptions set out on the method page. They are not tax, legal or financial advice and they are not a regulated personal recommendation. The tax actually due is the one established by the personal representatives of an estate on the inheritance tax account and agreed with HMRC; a decision about a will, a gift, a pension nomination or a withdrawal should be checked with a solicitor or a regulated financial adviser.
Liability
Each rule is taken from the legislation or HMRC page cited with it, and the calculation engine is tested before each build. The publisher gives no guarantee that no error or later change in the law remains and cannot be held liable for any decision taken on the basis of this site alone. Errors can be reported through the contact page.
Intellectual property and reuse
Texts, graphics and code belong to the publisher. Legislation from legislation.gov.uk and guidance from GOV.UK are public sector information reused under the Open Government Licence v3.0, with the source named on each page.
Personal data and cookies
